A Peace and Justice Forum in San Pedro

The single most important issue of our times is the desire for Peace among the vast majority of Americans. Some are beginning to live Peace. Others are working towards it. Others, like the families that have loved ones in Iraq are praying for Peace.

Sadly, the society of which we are all a part is a very violent one. Wars are taking place in many parts of the world. Domestic violence is all too common. Senseless accidents are occurring much too often. And last, but not least, degenerative diseases such as Diabetes, Heart Disease and Cancer are sapping our strength.

Peace and the end of War will only come when there exists throughout the Land a vibrant non-violent Society, based on equality and justice for all. And a good place to start is to completely restructure an outdated, failing Health Care System.

First of all, every resident in each community must be fully included in a single payer system, covering all health care needs except catastrophic medical care.

San Pedro Neighbors for Peace & Justice will host an event which shows the link between the spending on the War on Iraq , now figured at 1 billion a week and the devastating effect it is having on our health care safety net in this country. Please join us for this discussion that show the war on Iraq is also a war on the American people.

Our speaker, Marshall Blesofsky has been a health care provider since the early 70s working as a physician’s assistant and health educator for 25 years. He recently earned his doctoral degree in education from USC and is also the producer and host of the People’s Tribune TV, seen in Long Beach and Signal Hill.

Dr. Blesofsky has been active in such organizations as Medical Committee for Human Rights and Physician Assistants for Social Change.
